Digital strategy

We’re a strategically lead digital business. We believe that by diving in with little or no clear understanding of the direction you should go in, is a waste of your efforts and money. We are qualified to participate or lead businesses in growing their digital assets and marketing them effectively online. We do this by measuring all activities against previously agreed upon key performance indicators. We implement actionable analytics and our advanced analysis of data guarantees the increase in performance of digital assets and marketing initiatives.

Digital UI Design

We meet today’s consumer demand for interaction with content on any device by delivering truly responsive designs. We then exceed this demand by delivering highly engaging, yet simple user interfaces. Our design team is unique in that they deliver optimal designs that appeal to the targeted user base through the influence of web data. Our designs are tested through one or more usability testing methodologies, e.g. Cognitive Walkthroughs, Contextual Task Analysis, Focus Groups, Heuristic Evaluations, Expert Reviews and more.

Web and application development

Our passion for all things digital and our inquisitive nature has made us realise that almost anything is possible through technology. This has resulted in a good understanding and skill to program in all major web languages. We specialise in ecommerce, CMS and mobile application development. We’re proficient in HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, ActionScript3, Objective-C, Java, integration with XML and JSON, and more.

Integration

Through our list of software partners and some custom builds, we’ve successfully delivered on medium to large-scale integration projects.

Web analytics

We work with advanced analytical platforms such as Adobe SiteCatalyst and Google Analytics. We are qualified to do the measurement planning, implementation of tags, set-up of the analytical projects (or suites) and to do analysis of data for optimisation.

Over the past 5 years, digital has truly revived my love and passion for marketing. It’s not that I don’t believe in other more traditional ways of marketing, but the ability to only report on ‘soft measures’ makes it hard to determine the true effectiveness of marketing campaigns and whether objectives have been reached. More importantly, you’re not able to make improvements based on the knowledge of what has and hasn’t worked. I hold a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Stellenbosch and a Masters in Digital Marketing from IE Business School in Spain (currently ranked in the top 10 business schools by FT and Economist). I enjoy trail running, surfing, mountain biking and apart from Europe, Asia and the US, I have travelled to 15 countries on the African continent.

Being a LEGO prodigy and having spent days on end bonding with my Commodore VIC 20, I knew from an early age that my career one day had to satisfy my passion for design and technology. After finishing my Diploma in Electronic Origination at SAPC in Johannesburg, I joined Independent Newspapers where I worked on retail adverts for clients such as VW, Cellucity and Renault SA. A hop, skip and a couple of small agencies later, I joined FCB Draft Cape Town as Art Director to work on new media projects for clients such as Distell, Old Mutual, BASF and Santam. As a multi-disciplinary designer, I thrive on conceptualising new ideas that are influenced by strategic thinking and crafting beautiful designs that are based on sound UI and UX principles. Other notable points include being a champion egg poacher and surviving Super Storm Sandy.

I started working with the web about 8 years ago when I would make websites with Notepad and MSPaint instead of finishing my homework. They were all terrible abominations brimming with flashing, marquee text and whatever music angsty teenagers were listening to back then. Happily I’ve learned a lot about web development as well as good taste in music since. I received an Advanced Diploma in Web Development from City Varsity as well as job offer to start teaching evening courses the same year I graduated, which was fun because I got to talk about development and people had to listen to me. I spend as much time as possible in front of computers. It never gets old.

I accidentally entered the IT world in 2002 and have never looked back. There’s nothing more thrilling than working with whizz kids to build ground-breaking products. The kick for me is seeing the end product, knowing you were there right from the start, when it was just an idea on a white board.

More recently, I became obsessed with the mobile space and the infinite possibilities it offers. I’m constantly thinking of ways how mobile can change people’s lives.

I am a qualified Business Analyst and Scrum Master and refined my skills at pioneering companies including Naspers, Fundamo and 20twenty.

My other passions are hiking (Otter and Inka trail…tick), oil painting and working my way through visiting the 7 Wonders of the World.
